What a real task costs

We took 132 successful tasks run by 35 customer accounts in September 2026 (our own, benchmark and demo traffic excluded; failed attempts in the same session are counted in the cost) and re-priced them at today's rates. The median task took about 8 agent steps over 4.5 minutes and costs $0.24 all-in. A quarter cost $0.12 or less; three quarters cost $0.39 or less. About 13% of them met a captcha. At the old per-minute price the same median task cost $0.45.

Median task, line by lineCost
About 8 agent steps × $0.02, AI included$0.17
4.5 minutes of browser time at $0.10 an hour$0.007
Residential traffic (median)$0.060
Captcha: 13% of tasks met one, $0.005 each$0.005
Measured median, all-in$0.24

The lines are medians of each part, so they do not add up exactly to the median task. 1,000 tasks of that shape come to roughly $240 a month, and a $1 first top-up covers about 4 of them. Steps are most of the bill, which means a task the agent finishes in fewer steps is cheaper: a 3-step lookup costs about $0.07.

Steps are most of the bill. The AI is inside the $0.02 step price on the default model; a model you pin yourself can cost more per step (see the questions below). Our measured average is about 3.4 MB of residential traffic per browser-minute, so 15 MB is a typical 4 to 5 minute task; image-heavy sites move more.

How this compares, honestly

Most cloud-browser companies rent you a bare browser by the hour and leave the agent, the proxies and the captchas to you. If you already run your own Playwright or Puppeteer script, that is simpler, and you should use it. Human Browser's browser time costs about the same per hour as theirs; the agent is billed per step with the AI included, next to a residential IP, captcha handling and a human who can step in.

Pick Human Browser when

  • you want to send a goal in plain English and get a result, not maintain selectors;
  • the target blocks datacenter IPs and headless browsers, so you need a real Chrome on a residential IP;
  • tasks hit logins, one-time codes or captchas and sometimes need a human for thirty seconds;
  • your volume is spiky and a monthly plan would sit unused.

Pick a raw browser API when

  • you already have working Playwright or Puppeteer scripts and only need Chrome somewhere else;
  • you run thousands of browser-hours of your own scripts a month and never need an agent step;
  • you need SOC 2, HIPAA or SSO today, or more than 10 concurrent sessions without talking to anyone.

Included in every session

Three ways in

A2A (v0.3) (JSON-RPC and SSE), an MCP server for Claude, Cursor and Codex, and a REST surface described in openapi.json. One token works for all three.

Live viewer

Every task returns a viewer URL. Watch it run, pause it, or take over and hand it back.

Persistent profiles

Name a profile and its cookies and logins carry over to the next run.

Files in and out

Attach files for the agent to upload; files a site downloads come back with the task.

Questions

How much does Human Browser cost?

Pay as you go: $0.10 per browser-hour (billed per second), $0.02 per agent step with the AI included, $0.005 per captcha solve and $4 per GB of residential traffic. No subscription and no monthly minimum. We re-priced the 132 successful customer tasks from September 2026 at these rates: the median task took about 8 agent steps and costs $0.24 all-in.

Is there a free tier?

There is no free credit. Your first top-up can be $1 by card (crypto from $5), which is enough for about 4 typical tasks (the median task costs $0.24). After that you top up a prepaid balance from $5.

How is browser time billed?

Per second of agent time, at $0.10 per hour. Sessions shorter than 30 seconds are not billed. Time while a human has taken over the session in the live viewer is not billed either. Until 1 October 2026 this was $0.10 per minute.

What is an agent step, and is the AI included?

A step is one decision by the agent: it looks at the page and chooses the next clicks or keystrokes. Each step costs $0.02 and the AI model is included; there is no separate AI line. The default model is gpt-6-luna, where a step costs us well under a cent. If you pin a large model yourself and a single step costs more than $0.02 in model tokens, that step is billed at its token cost plus 30% instead, so the price never goes below what the model charges. You can pick other OpenAI, Anthropic, Kimi or MiniMax models per task.

Does my balance expire?

No. Prepaid balance never expires. Unused balance is refundable within 7 days of purchase; see the refund policy for the details.

How many sessions can run at once?

Up to 10 concurrent sessions per paid token. If you need more, email [email protected].

Is Human Browser cheaper than Browserbase or Steel?

Browser time is now at the same level: $0.10 an hour here, $0.08 to $0.12 at Browserbase, Steel and Hyperbrowser, and $0.02 at Browser Use. What differs is everything around it. Here the agent, a real Chrome on a residential IP, captcha handling and human takeover are on one bill, with the AI included in the $0.02 step price. Residential traffic is cheaper ($4/GB against $5 to $12/GB elsewhere) and there is no monthly fee. If you already run your own Playwright or Puppeteer scripts and do not need the agent, a raw browser API is still the simpler choice.

How do I pay?

Card through Stripe (Apple Pay and Google Pay included) or crypto: USDT, USDC, BTC, ETH or SOL. Top up from your account page or through the API.
